BYFLEET CRICKET CLUB JUNIOR SECTION 2024 – BYFLEET FALCONS

Following the huge disruption to the 2020 season, we took the opportunity to restructure and rebrand our Junior Section in 2021. The death of Byfleet, Surrey and England star Robin Jackman prompted us to recall the contribution he and his parents made back in the 1960s to the considerable success of the Byfleet Falcons, the so named junior section of the club at that time. 

For the 2024 season we will be offering training for boys and girls in the U8 to U10 age range, with competitive matches in U8 and U10 competitions run by the Surrey Junior Cricket Championship with matches taking place home and away largely, but not exclusively, on Sunday mornings.  The age qualification follows that of the school years, being calculated as at 1st September 2023.  All training will be supervised by our own ECB qualified and DBS cleared coaches and will take place on Friday evenings.  U8s train from 17.45pm – 18.45pm, and U10s from 18.30pm – 19.30pm.  Our first training session for the season will be an informal one coinciding with our registration evening on Friday 26th April when we aim to get all form filling completed and will provide the opportunity, especially for new members, to meet our administrators and get to know us.  Friday evening training will then follow from 3rd May through to late July.

For coaching sessions suitable footwear is recommended, and included in the annual subscription will be a Falcons branded training top.  For matches we prefer juniors to wear their Byfleet top along with other traditional cricket clothing.  We do sometimes have available secondhand items such as trousers – please ask.

On Friday evenings it is essential that parents/guardians ensure their child registers their attendance before joining their training group.  Thereafter parents/guardians can safely leave their child in our care for the duration of the training session or they are welcome to stay to either observe the session and/or make use of our bar which will be open.

Matches in the U8 & U10 group are played with a soft ball so protective wear is not necessary. 

ANNUAL MEMBERSHIPS

Junior Membership is £80.00, and for siblings £50.00.  This includes all training sessions and match fees plus a Falcons training shirt. Also included is social membership for parents/guardians.

Payment can be made by cash, online bank transfer or by the credit/debit card facility in our bar.  In cases of hardship monthly payment plans can be discussed and agreed with our administrators.

ALL STARS CRICKET

For children new to cricket in the 5–8 age range we participate in the ECB All Stars programme.  These sessions take place on Friday’s, from 5.15pm to 6.00pm.  This is an eight week course beginning on Friday 17th May and running until Friday 12th July.  No session during the May Half-Term (31st May).

Registration and subscription to the course is done directly not with the Cricket Club but through the All Stars website where further information on the course content can also be found.  See below for more details.
